Site Manager for State Corps, Afghanistan


STATE CORPS (SC) is an engineering and construction firm registered with U.S government, government of Afghanistan (AISA) and has active branches in Dubai, Turkey, Qatar, Bahrain and Virginia State of America. The company has experience of implementing huge construction and power projects in Afghanistan and Middle East. SC is actively working in Afghanistan since last one decade and has proven performance record of executing large projects.

Job Summary: 
The site manager for Transmission Line/ Substation will work under direct supervision of the project manager. He will work as a technical person with extensive knowledge in Transmission Lines/ Substations projects ranging from 110kv to 500kv. He will support the entire team and monitor all construction and installation activities to conform to the approved project designs and acceptable codes. He will assure the quality of material used is in accordance with the approved standards and work closely with QC manager and Safety manager to ensure quality of the project and safety of the personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1 . Acting as the main technical adviser on a construction site for subcontractors, crafts people and operatives;
2. Checking plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations;
3. Ensuring that all materials used and work performed are as per specifications;
4. Managing, monitoring and interpreting the contract design documents supplied by the client or architect;
5. Liaising with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project;
6. Communicating with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress;
7. Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labor force and the work of any subcontractors;
8. Planning the work and efficiently organizing the plant and site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines;
9. Preparing reports as required;
10. Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
11. Provide construction support as required.
12. Develops and monitors work progress on project schedules to assure proper coordination of events during the design, construction, testing and energizing phases of a project.
13. Assists with departmental and interdepartmental training to assure proper installation, operation and/or maintenance of substation or transmission equipment when requested.
14. Reports to the section Engineering Supervisor or Superintendent and performs other assignments as requested.
15. Specifying construction project objectives and plans including delineation of scope, communications, setting performance requirements, and recruiting project site team;
16. Maximizing resource efficiency through procurement and effective management of labor, materials, machinery and equipment;
17. Implementing various operations through proper coordination and control of estimating, contracting and construction in the entire process;
18. Developing effective communications and mechanisms for resolving site conflicts
19. Establishing proper documentation procedures;
20. Managing all of the activities of stakeholders related to the project;
21. Other duties as that shall be assigned by the senior management. 

1. At least Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.
2. 4-9 years experience with transmission line and substation construction.
3. Must be familiar Microsoft Office and MS Project (Primavera is preferred).
4. Must be excellent at English communication both verbal and written
5. Have the ability to work for long hours and under pressure.
6. Site Management Skills & Team Player
7. Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team-oriented environment.
