Demonstrated skill in supervision in a Lead position for a minimum 5 years.
SUMMARY:
Plans and conducts independent work within a global business unit requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria for Fire protection and detection systems. Supports project proposal activities, FEED, Engineering and Construction phase of the project. Devises new approaches to solving problems. In addition, he will also be responsible for safety in design, quality, schedule and cost associated with Fire protection and detection system during the design.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of engineering work for a global business unit usually in one project or staff group. Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, constructability, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirements.
2. Performs work using Client Standard Application Programs and appropriate 2-D and 3-D computer aided design and computer aided engineering (CAD and CAE) tools.
3. Plans, coordinates or prepares equipment or work specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations for fire protection and detection systems.
4. Coordinates engineering efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, and contractors and between other groups.
5. Assists in on-the-job-training of assigned personnel.
6. Prepares letters to vendors and clients.
7. Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals.
8. Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts, trends and change orders.
9. Initiates requests for specialized professional services.
10. Manages the flow of information required from third parties to assure the timely progress of the engineering work.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
• Conceptual and detailed engineering of fire protection and fire detection systems –fire water system, gaseous extinguishing system, fire alarm and detection system, portable & mobile extinguishers.
• Experience of working in Infrastructure projects; hands-on experience in Revit and working in BIM environment is desirable.
• Knowledgeable in fire protection equipment selection, pipe sizing, fire schematics, preparation of data sheets and equipment specifications.
• Conceptual and detailed engineering of plumbing and drainage systems.
• Knowledge of industry and regulatory codes and standards such as NFPA; International Plumbing Code, knowledge of International Building Code and International Fire Code is desirable.
• Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, and engineering and design calculations.
• Knowledge of current computer applications for engineering and design including appropriate knowledge of CAD (both 2-D and 3-D) and Standard Computer Applications to perform the work.
• Knowledge of Pipenet, Elite or equivalent software for fire water hydraulics is desirable.
• Review of vendor drawings, resolution of site queries and RFI.
• Capture as-built information on field drawings.
• Experience of working on large sized projects is preferred.
