The role is based in Bristol for a fast-moving company who is setting up a new team. This team is working for the main project Hinkley Point C (New power plant worth GBP 21 billion.) The Project Manager is required to effectively and efficiently manage the delivery of allocated Projects and Work Packages within agreed budgets, on programme and to the customer's satisfaction. Larger projects are multi-million pounds and to be delivered in multi-cultural environment and in some case with partners (JV). Every phase of the project lifecycle will be covered from strategy definition and early implementation to delivery of work at large construction site and handover. The Project Manager will integrate our UK PMO and liaise with our team in France, with UK partners and suppliers and our Bristol based customer. Key role aspects are:
  • Planning and delivering systems, methods and tools to efficiently deliver project according to contract requirements and company operating model
  • Determining overall requirements in terms of project strategy, scope, budget, time, resource
  • Delivering key project deliverables (PMP, PQP, Project reports, etc.)
  • Establishing and maintaining project control techniques for measuring progress against plan and developing appropriate actions to remedy possible drift
  • Managing project risks and applying corresponding risk mitigation measures
  • Working within and maintaining records for all work to satisfy company and customer standards and procedures and national quality and legal requirements
  • Ensuring that the change control system is rigorously applied
  • Applying commercial awareness expertise to support customer scope discussion in the frame of NEC3 contract
  • Understanding the nature of contract variations and negotiating variation implications through to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Influencing customers to source and support business winning opportunities
  • The Project Manager will be co-ordinating project management activities via effective management of the respective team members
  • Complying with all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and company standards
Essential skills and experience:
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in managing complex multi-disciplinary engineering and construction projects in heavily regulated industries
  • Background in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
  • Strong understanding of project management aspects, principles and processes
  • Experience with NEC3 framework
  • Sound IT skills, particularly project reporting and writing skills
  • Good spoken and written English is essential
  • Comfortable managing multidisciplinary team including virtual team (TV conference and conf call)
  Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
  • French language basic skill and/or multicultural project experience
  • Experience in nuclear
  • Understanding of P6
