An Environmental Coordinator is required to support the our clients pipeline operations in Alberta.
General Information
The Environmental Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the Environmental Management Program and Sub-Programs to maintain regulatory compliance with Federal and Provincial (Alberta) regulations and company best practices. This Environmental Coordinator will be responsible for providing support to both the regional liquids and natural gas facilities in Alberta. This position provides environmental expertise to various stakeholders including regional staff, corporate specialists, and regulators.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (field operations, corporate, regulators, legal) to identify measure, monitor and manage environmental risk and liabilities;
  • Audit facilities to ensure environmental compliance to company and regulatory standards and procedures;
  • Manage and prepare environmental data and reports for submittal to local, provincial and federal regulatory agencies;
  • Develop audit reports for management review and action;
  • Develop plans to address identified risks and ensure actions are complete;
  • Identify, measure, monitor and mitigate environmental risks and liabilities;
  • Perform integrated risk assessments to manage environmental issues;
  • Review and provide feedback of Job Safety Analysis, Site Specific Safety Plans, Project Safety Plans and
Emergency Response Plans to ensure environmental hazards are identified and controlled;
  • Knowledge of liquids and gas pipeline operations, environmental and regulatory aspects of facilities is expected in this role;
  • Provide input to emergency and crisis management aspects within the region;
  • Role involves travel to facilities within region and other facilities, as required;
  • On-call environmental support for oil and gas pipeline incidents, issues and emergencies;
  • Provide input to regional programs including waste management, vegetation management, waste management, contaminated soils management, water quality;
  • Provide input into strategic environmental initiatives;
  • Lead regional environmental program roll outs.
  • Maintaining facility compliance with air, water, waste, remediation, wetlands, land use and hazardous materials regulations;
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of AER, AESRD, Environment Canada and other pertinent environmental regulation;
  • Complete various applications and obtain permits for new and modified facilities;
  • Working with internal stakeholders to ensure Regional Environmental Plan is adequately communicated and properly implemented;
  • Train personnel to ensure understanding of environmental management program expectations, policies and procedures.
  • Any other oil or natural gas transmission work that may be required.
Qualifications and Education
  • Experience working with Environment Canada and provincial regulatory agencies;
  • Ability to create and sustain critical partnerships (Regulators, communities or municipalities) and a strong networking ability;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
  • Advanced analytical ability to gather and evaluate complex information obtained from a variety of sources;
  • Leadership skills to act as a role model, promoting a positive influence on the work of others through demonstration of technical expertise and effective interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to make decisions and present recommendations;
  • Ability to effectively interact at all levels of the organization and across all business functions;
Education/Experience:
  • An accredited Bachelors or Masters of Science or Arts degree in an environmental science, planning, engineering, or related curriculum or an Environmental Technology diploma with relevant experience;
  • 8-10 years of combined applicable academic training, certification and related work experience preferred;
  • Relevant professional designation or certification desired.
