Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Provides engineering support, in a consulting role, to the Richmond Refinery business units and designs engineering group in the area of pipe stress analysis, with a primary focus on analysis of existing piping systems and brown field modifications. On a limited basis will also provide pipe stress analysis support to other Chevron refineries.
- Performs and documents detailed pipe stress analyses in accordance with the appropriate piping design codes and company standards
- Assessment of degraded piping and pressure vessel nozzles.
- Scope/troubleshoot mechanical problems and issues, develop alternatives, and propose and implement solutions for long term reliability.
- Answer technical inquiries, make technical recommendations, improving designs engineering tools, and developing designs engineering procedures in the field of pipe stress and evaluation of piping systems.
- Provide engineering analysis and evaluation support for capital projects.
- Consult with and make recommendations to other design engineers
- Mentor and assist in developing new engineers who are learning pipe stress analysis
- Review and approve pipe stress models that are provided by outside contract engineering companies and less experienced engineers to insure models meet industry and company standards for quality and completeness.
- Manage a group of 1 - 3 engineers that are conducting a refinery wide effort to calculate the minimum thickness for process piping circuits may be incorporated into this position.
