Job Title- Welding Engineer
Role in Contract
To provide projects with Expert knowledge in welding of piping and pipeline steels and improved corrosion resistant alloys (CRA) used in oil and gas industry is must
Category – Core Personnel
Qualification Requirement
• B.SC/BE in Welding Engineering or shall be registered as European Welding Engineer or equivalent. A post graduate qualification in welding is desirable
• Demonstrated sound technical knowledge and extensive experience in welding process (SMAW, SAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW etc), materials , welding and fabrication methods in onshore oil and gas industry. Expert knowledgeable in welding of high strength pipeline steels and improved corrosion resistant alloys (CRA) used in oil and gas industry is must.
• Sound technical knowledge of corrosion fracture, fatigue brittle creep, embitterment behavior of welded joints and materials used in oil and gas industry.
• Demonstrated capability in preparation of WPS, selection of welding consumables ability to undertake failure analysis welding related problems diagnostic and solutions qualifications such as CSWIP/AWS shall not substitute as an acceptable qualifications for Welding Engineer in lieu of the requirements given above
Experience Level required
• At least 15yrs relevant experience in the construction of onshore Oil and Gas or Petrochemical industries facilities (pressure vessels, tanks, mechanical fabrications, pipelines, piping etc.) Including live installations. Out of 15yrs experience , 5yrs of experience shall have gained in the Middle East Preferably in PDO environment.
• Experience of working to and fully conversant with international codes (ANSI/ASME, ASTM, API, BS, EN, MSS, ISO, DIN, NACE etc.) used in oil and gas industry, ERDs, Sps, STDs (PDO documents,) including Shell DEPs.
• Review and approve vendor's/ contractors proposed welding procedure specifications, construction welding procedure specifications and procedure qualification records.
• Guiding Corrosion and materials departments on the material selection with respect to welding.
• Advising and guiding Contract's in developing and qualifying welding procedure specifications
• Developing Welding specifications to ensure integrity of equipment and facilities used in PDO
• Review and modification of existing welding specifications based on field experience and developments taking place in oil and gas industry
• Carrying out failure analysis and finding solutions to welding related problems.
• Maintain data base of welding related problems and their status
General Requirements
Must have been employed by a QA/QC firm in the above period
Particular Requirements
Should have a sound knowledge of related engineering principles.
Personal Requirements:
• Require Sound technical knowledge of corrosion/fracture/fatigue/creep /embitterment behavior of welded joints and materials used in oil and gas industry.
• Understanding, the ability to visualize, plus a fair degree of memory
• An orderliness of mind and tidy work habits are required in the preparation of drawings to present his ideas to others.
• Co-operation, both with fellow workers in his section and with other departments is important
• Initiative, willingness and reliability with the ability to work on his own
