HOME & SCHOOL FOR ORPHANED GIRLS IN INDIA

A Home & Schooling for Orphaned Girls in India

Provide a home and education for India's most vulnerable children — orphaned girls on the streets of Calcutta.
With over three times the population of the United States and only one-third of the space, India faces many unique challenges, including an estimated 18 million street children. Combining the Hindi words for child and donation, Baal Dan provides many of these children with safe housing and quality education.
With a hands-on approach, Baal Dan's volunteer staff personally visits orphanages throughout India, where they carefully select the very best environments for orphans and street children. When they can't find such a place, Baal Dan helps develop new facilities, including schools, libraries, and orphanages.
By working with grassroots partners, Baal Dan can identify and resolve their most critical needs, guaranteeing individually tailored project goals while effectively distributing limited resources and minimizing overhead. For example, just $20,000 can support sixteen girls and staff for an entire year. This covers all expenses, including shelter costs, medical care, nutritious food, and quality education.
This means you can help by sponsoring an orphaned child for one week for just $24.

Inside the Bachpan Girls Home

Baal Dan Charities was formed to support the basic needs and social welfare of impoverished children (mostly orphans and street children) in India, and to promote their welfare. Since 2006, Baal Dan has provided aid to over 3,000 children through grants made to a coalition of grass roots partners such as orphanages and NGOs that are focused on orphans, street children, and impoverished children (including refugees).
