COMBINED CYCLE POWER PLANT

A Combined Cycle Power Plant is an electricity production plant based on two heat engines, with two different thermal cycles: gas turbine and steam turbine. The unutilized heat for one cycle (gas turbine) is used as another heat source (water-steam cycle that feeds the steam turbine). In this way, hot exhaust gases from gas turbine cycle deliver the energy required for operation of the steam cycle coupled. This configuration allows a very efficient use of fuel with yields exceeding 55% (ie more than 55% of the energy contained in the fuel is converted into electrical energy).

The energy generated at these facilities can be used, in addition to electricity generation, district heating and for generating steam for process.
