Senior Project Manager. Location: Bristol, London or Manchester. Salary: £30,000 - £45,000 + Benefits!
Green Recruitment Solutions are seeking to appoint a talented and professional Senior Project Manager, for this leading environmental and waste management consultancy; with additional specialisms in low carbon energy, marine planning and climate change. The ideal candidate must have determination, sector specific expertise- managing front-line operational delivery change projects- and possess experience of project managing complex waste and recycling collections; including operational service change projects. Furthermore, the candidate must have a proactive understanding of managing waste and recycling collection contract procurement projects, for, or on behalf of, local authorities. Responsibilities:
The type of work is expected to include:
· Management of multiple projects at any one time
- Internal management and coordination of project teams to include:
- Ensuring timely technical project input is received from technical leads
- Liaison with Project Director on strategic project issues; and
- Assignment of responsibilities
- Monitoring deadlines/deliverables
- Project team and client communications including updates on project progress
- Creating and delivering project work plans and revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
- Coordination and delivery of tasks in order to meet the required outcomes of the project
- Ensuring project documents are complete, current, and appropriately stored
- Regular financial project reporting including analysing variation from project budget and initiating corrective actions
- Setting up and maintenance of risk registers, change logs, issue registers
- Report writing and presentation of results, alongside technical staff
- Developing bids for new projects
- Line management of consultancy staff
Essential Requirements:
- At least five years managing complex local government projects in the waste, recycling and resource management sectors
- Educated at least to degree level (though in exceptional circumstances other candidates would be accepted)
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Strong project management skills
- Strong report writing expertise and excellent written English
- Business development and networking skills
- A good level of commercial awareness with a demonstrable aptitude for identifying the commercial angle
- A high level of numeracy
- Strong IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office suite
- A strategic and critical approach
- The ability to manage multiple clients, stakeholders and projects
- The ability to work easily with local government elected members and officers at all levels up to chief executive
- Willingness to 'muck-in' and carry out all types of task as necessary
- The ability to work within and to support the development of good teams and the careers of junior staff
- A commitment to the environmental and public service principles which drive Eunomia
Desirable:
- Experience working for the private sector, ideally in a consultancy business, with a focus on waste and recycling / resource efficiency projects
- Experience in managing waste and recycling contract procurement projects – including experience with procurement document development and bid evaluation
- Experience in formulating and evaluating proposals for consultancy projects and for bidding for similar projects
- Line management experience
- A project management qualification or accreditation (e.g. PRINCE2 or MSP)
- A relevant professional industry qualification or membership e.g. CIWM, IEMA
