Job | Lead Instrumentation Engineer(Offshore), Hyderabad

Position Title
Lead Instrument Engineer
Position reports to: Lead Engineer reports functionally to the assigned Project Manager and has technical quality, coordination, and production responsibility for all work in I&C on the project. He/she is administratively responsible to his I&C Chief Engineer / HOD in the Engineering Department to ensure the technical adequacy and quality of all work produced by his Engineers and Designers.
Primary objective
* To ensure Health, Safety and Environment has the highest priority in all activities undertaken by Engineering and Design personnel.
* To supervise the work of the I&C engineers and designers.
* To allocate engineering resources in order to complete all deliverables for the discipline within the approved staff hour budget and schedule.
* To assist I&C Chief Engineer / HOD in departmental development activities.
Specific Accountabilities
* Technical competence of instrument engineering personnel.
* Forecast requirements for instrument engineering resources and allocate those resources.
* Inter discipline communication development. To liaise with other design groups, and to co-ordinate the discipline activities with the other groups to achieve the overall project design objectives in the most efficient manner.
* To provide discipline input to the project key documentation during squad checking, or by the issue of key documentation change requests immediately when the discipline activities create or identify the need for a change to those documents.
* Instrument group communication development. To supervise the discipline design group by close liaison with the discipline lead designer or design coordinator in order to develop practical and economic designs to achieve the project objectives.
* To provide all necessary input to the project control and reporting system, including preparation of man-hour estimates, attending review meetings, maintaining the progress report for the discipline, liaising with the project planning engineer for discipline progress planning, and preparing the discipline section of the monthly report
* To prepare the discipline Project Design Criteria prior to the commencement of any engineering or design activities.
* Check compliance with Alliance QA/safety/environment roles. To ensure that all document checking and design verification tasks have been completed in accordance with the company and project procedures before formal document issue.
* To prepare a SID/SD Discipline Context Statement translating the project safety and sustainability risks into discipline specific design goals, then use this context statement to induct new discipline personnel onto the project
* To arrange for the preparation of all discipline design deliverables including layout drawings, detail drawings, schedules, specifications, data sheets, calculations requisitions, and technical tender evaluations, in accordance with the project requirements and the company procedures and standards.
* Promote Client understanding and confidence in the instrument design through involvement in the design process.
In addition to the above mentioned responsibilities towards project delivery , Lead Instrument Engineer is also responsible for following :
* Instrument design integrity of workscope and maintenance standards.
* Identify instrument software necessary to enable instrument group to function effectively.
* Promote Alliance culture in instrument engineering group.
* Manage instrument design and any design changes within budget and schedule.
* Evaluate new technology advancements against existing design standards and revise where applicable.
* Promote cost reduction and productivity enhancing initiatives.
* Promote career development within the group
* Identify and review new technology development which could be applicable in providing more cost effective facilities.
* Benchmark instrument design/drafting and identify areas of improvement.
* Safety - Responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the BU, etc. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
* To foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Essential Skills/Experience
* Degree in Instrument or electronic engineering.
* 12 years + plus design experience within industry.
* Minimum 3years experience in offshore design
Matching Indicators
Preference will be given to candidates with extensive work experience at a senior level within the Oil & Gas industry.
