Post: CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT (Oil & Gas)
1. Basic Function:
Plans, directs and controls construction installation work on-site, for either the mechanical, electrical and civil areas, normally supervising General Foreman and Foreman and their crews of different but related crafts, except for electrical. Plans, monitors, schedules, inspects and reports on work progress to ensure on time project completion and that quality of work objective are met.
2. Work Performed:
a) Supervises the activities of assigned personnel in his area. Performs supervisory functions and exercises financial authority at the level established by Management for the position.
b) Receives approved critical path schedules, construction drawings and materials lists from planning/supervisor and plans, prioritizes and schedules work activities. Assigns work to subordinate general foreman and foreman and provides necessary technical advice and instructions.
c) Meets with Company and client engineering and other technical staff, to interpret construction drawings or engineering specifications, to ensure appropriate installation methods, techniques, alternate but acceptable materials, equipment etc. are utilized.
d) Monitors and supervises the work in his area throughout the various construction and commissioning stages of the project. Includes adjusting schedules, work methods, crew rotations etc. based on delays in material deliveries or schedule slippage in other areas on-site, crew access or space problems or other typical delays, that require innovative changes in his work plans.
e) Spot-checks, inspects and approves installation throughout the project and ensures they conform to approved drawings and specifications. Liaises with QA/QC and safety representatives as the needs arise.
f) Coordinates the work on-site with other superintendents. Also attends various site progress or staff meetings to discuss and resolve various problems or to plan construction activities.
g) Prepares a variety of regular and ad hoc reports, correspondence pertaining to reporting work progress for billing purposes, problems, personnel matters etc.
h) Carries out other similar or related duties, such as provides technical advice to Project Manager in his area of expertise, ensures the proper care of tools, equipment, and the observance of all fire and safety rules and regulations.
3. Minimum Requirements:
a) Four year Engineering degree preferably in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institution.
b) 12 years experience in industrial construction projects, preferably in the oil or petrochemical industry.
c) Good knowledge of English.
