5- Abu Dhabi Heritage Village
Run by the Emirates Heritage Club, this reconstruction of a traditional oasis village provides an interesting glimpse into the country’s past. Traditional aspects of the desert way of life, including a campfire with coffee pots, a goats’ hair tent, and a falaj irrigation system, are attractively displayed in the open museum. There are workshops where craftsmen demonstrate traditional skills, such as metal work and pottery, while women sit weaving and spinning. The craftsmen are happy to share their skills, and may occasionally give you the chance to try them out. The little spice shop is a treat – you can get a range of dried herbs, handmade soap and plenty of chatter.

6- Qaser al-Hosn
The former palace-residence of the ruling Al Nahayan family who governed Abu Dhabi from here from the 18th century until 1966, the fort is the city’s oldest building, constructed in 1761. Within the fort is a maze of rooms decorated with painted reliefs of peacocks, flowers and Islamic calligraphy, and connected by long corridors with mashrabiya screens and carved doors.

8- Manarat Al Saadiyat
This purpose-built visitor centre – Manarat Al Saadiyat brings Saadiyat Island's vision to life. This exciting artistic venue will host a dedicated space for touring international cultural and art exhibitions, and has been designed in line with international specifications to house a variety of art pieces. The centre will eventually encompass four major galleries, a central events space, sales centre, 250-seat theatre and restaurant and is opening in phases. Currently two galleries have opened to the public. The state-of-the-art Saadiyat Island exhibition, ‘The Saadiyat Story,’ is on permanent display and provides visitors with an interactive narrative on the history and cultural vision behind the island. Additionally, the ‘Arts Abu Dhabi Gallery’ is a permanent space for a series of exhibitions and educational programmes organised by Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC).

9- Emirates National Auto Museum
This museum is an amazing private collection of H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan.
The collection houses a vast array of cars and other vehicles; some seemingly bought from owners there and then, such as a customised camper van, others received as presents from all around the world. While some have been kept as originally intended, others have been modified to suit the Sheikh's preference.
You will find several Mercedes, one in each colour of the rainbow for each day of the week. And they are all fitted with conveniences such as refrigerators and TV. A number of other vehicles are also rainbow coloured or have a rainbow logo painted on them and have matching seats and hubcaps.
