Position Details:
• Manage in-line inspection (ILI) projects, apply accepted engineering practices for fitness-for-purpose assessments.
• Finalize reports for state-of-the-art ultrasonic wall thickness and geometry in-line inspections of pipelines.
• Additional advanced engineering assessment to be performed on individual integrity management projects.
• Phases of this job may be carried out at the local regional office, other regional offices located worldwide, or at the client's job site.
• Communicate pipeline integrity management via ILI data sets (ultrasonic data); regulations (established by PHMSA); and API, NACE, POF and other industry standards for ILI technology and ILI data sets.
• Support development and management of data assessment process for pipelines
• Assure consistent application and develop quality control guidelines which can be followed from collection in the field through to data and assessment delivery to the client.
• Establish consistent, high quality reporting formats and interface with clients to resolve client data interpretation challenges and solicit and synthesize client feedback on prospective pipeline improvements.
• Establish consistent and seamless interface between the Inspection division and Assessment division to ensure highest quality and most time efficient deliverable for the client.
• Support technology development based on continuing field testing of technology and direct comparison to actual pipeline conditions.
• Support pipeline-related integrity management initiatives, both internal through the Assessment division and through third parties.
• Communicate and promote capabilities/advantages of company inspection and engineering assessment through industry events and publishing or co-publishing relevant technology validation case studies.
• Fulfill project leadership or management tasks and coordination as requested.
• Interface with domestic regulatory and industry standard setting bodies and other local regulatory and/or standard setting bodies within the markets we serve.
• Comply with all state, federal and company policies required as part of the data and engineering assessment deliverable activities.
• May participate in management strategy and operations development activities as applicable.
• Travel will be required - 10 to 25%.
Experience Profile:
• BS in an applicable engineering subject and 5+ years of related industry experience.
• Thorough understanding of pipeline integrity management via ILI data sets, specifically ultrasonic data.
• Pipeline integrity, integrity management, assessment of pipeline flaws.
• Knowledge of pipeline integrity management regulations, established by PHMSA.
• Understanding of API, NACE, POF, etc. standards for ILI technology and ILI data sets.
• Ability to obtain TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and other required industry certifications as necessary.
• Proficient in MS Office and information technology generally.
• Able to travel up to 10 to 25% as required. Travel is primarily 1-2 day trips in N. America. International travel is rare but can occur.
Helpful/Preferred:
• Software programming experience provides advantage.
• Ultrasonic inline inspections, specifically ultrasonic data.
• Pressure cycle fatigue analysis.
• Fitness-for-service assessments.
