Job Opening - US MNC Conglomerate: Associate Piping Engineering Manager (Piping) @ Chennai
* Graduate in Mechanical Engineering (Full Time) from an approved university with a relevant work experience of 15 + years in the detail design of Chemical plants, Oil & Gas industry, Power plants or similar.
* As a member of a multi-discipline, capital project design team, Piping Engineer is responsible for development & detailed design of all piping components for Chemical Process Units. He/ She shall utilize applicable design criteria, design tools, best practices, & established work processes to complete detailed design packages. He/ She will work with designers & drafters to complete targeted tasks & assemble contract packages in accordance with the project schedule.
* He/ She shall supervise & coordinate the work of piping design team to perform layout & other design activities in order to produce information, specifications, & documentation for the construction & maintenance of process & utility piping systems.
* Apply strong leadership skills & a high level of knowledge of piping systems & components, applicable codes, & standards which is required to ensure the most effective design that complies with Safety & Loss Prevention principles & all industry national & local codes & regulations. He/ She have the ultimate responsibility for the integrity & completeness of the piping design for the scope assigned.
Responsibilities/Key Deliverables:
* Ensure that Piping interacts with all disciplines to minimize disconnects & errors in the design.
* Manage & coordinate the work for the Piping team. Perform complex piping layout, routing & material selection.
* Check the accuracy, completeness & quality of any aspect of piping on the project.
* Lay out the plant & equipment taking into account process considerations, constructability, operability & maintainability of the facilities.
* Prepare piping material specifications for inquiry & order, prepare transmittals, evaluate bids & use the approved manufacturer"s lists.
* Ensure that environmental, Safety & Loss Prevention principles are used in the design.
* Ensure that design complies with applicable industry codes & standards & global practices & specifications.
Required experiences & skills include the following:
* Strong initiative & team leadership capabilities.
* Strong interpersonal relationship & time-management skills.
* Strong English language written & oral communication skills.
* Ability to work with a wide variety of detail design leads, including other detail design disciplines & personnel from diverse cultures.
* Proficient use of 3D modelling Design tools
Required proficiency with the following:
* PDS/ PDMS
* MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
Desired emphasis:
* Design safe & reliable piping systems that meet project requirements.
* Complete detail design of piping scope of project, on-time & within budget.
* Elimination of all design errors.
* Work well with other Project Team members.
* Basic knowledge of industry codes & standards.
