> ROLE OVERVIEW:
> * The Materials Handling Specialist will provide strategic technical guidance and operational supervision to a team of Engineers in the Global Business Unit (GBU).
> * This client-facing role will also be responsible for maintaining relationships with the Project Engineering Function and the Owners Team Representatives.
>
> Your specific duties will include the following:
> 1. Managing engineering activities for the Materials Handling Function and establishing and maintaining the technical standards.
> 2. Maintaining continuous contact with work in progress by reviewing or approving, design basis, key drawings or design concepts and specifications.
> 3. Assisting the Chief Mechanical Engineer in reviewing and approving project Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs).
> 4. Providing technical/expert support to project teams and ensuring technical quality.
> 5. Establishing the discipline training needs, obtaining budgeting approval and directing the development of personnel training programs.
> 6. Owning the engineering elements of a project capital estimate (proposals and execution) quantities and budgets for the discipline.
> 7. Reviewing and influencing project schedule.
> 8. Reviewing unusual or complex design problems and providing guidance for their solution
>
> BASIC QUALIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
> 1. Bachelor"s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 15 years relevant experience.
> 2. Registered Professional Engineer (RPE) Certification will be an added advantage.
> 3. Significant experience in materials handling
> 4. Proven experience working through the various phases of an M&M project (i.e. study phase, execution phase and operation phase)
> 5. Comfortable playing a critical role on major project, as well as supervising a team, showcasing your exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills
> 6. Good planning, scheduling and man hour control skills
> 7. Good oral and written communication skills.
