Acorns: The well known fruit of all Oak Trees (the acorns of the White Oak are preferred but all varieties can be used). Preparation & Medicinal Use: (Astringent = causing shrinkage of bodily tissue). This is an old remedy for Diarrhea when powdered and taken internally. Also, grated or powdered Acorns can be used as a Flour for baking as the native American Indians did. Lastly, roasted or ground acorns can be used as a Coffee substitute drink.
Aloe Ferox (Cape Aloe): Originally native to West Indies, East Africa, and South Africa, the thick leaves of this plant are now available throughout all of the Americas.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: (Emmenagogue = causing the increase of menstrual flow, and a Purgative = strong laxative). Used for menstrual suppression to increase the flow of discharge. On nursing mothers, it will act as a laxative on the nursing infant. Handles Constipation and will assist in the removal of Parasites from the bowel. It is also effective in getting rid of Hemorrhoids.
Aloe (Vera): Found in many deserts and semi-arid climates, this popular plant with its leaves full of "Gel" has many uses and is now found all over the World. It is easy to grow outside, and is often used as an indoor potted plant. It has been used for 3,000+ years.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, this marvelous Herb is non-toxic, with no known side effects and is effective in the treatment of Wounds and promotes the rate of Healing. It also assists in the healing of Burns no matter how serious. Taken internally, it improves Blood Sugar levels in Diabetics and assists in handling acute Hepatitis (Liver Disease). It will also help dramatically with all Intestinal Ulcers and has been effective in helping to get rid of Colon Cancers when used with other protocols. Other uses include external applications for the relief of Herpes and Psoriasis, and can be used to handle the negative effects of Radiation and Sunburns.
Arnica: A flowering plant that grows throughout the Northern Hemisphere. The petals of the flowers are a beautiful yellow.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Arnica can be used as an external Tincture (extract), and can also be mixed in Salves for external use to handle Bruises, Swellings, and to lessen Pain in all areas of the body. Note Well: Arnica should not be taken internally.
Arrowroot: A large plant, 4 to 6 feet in height, that is grown throughout the tropics and sub-tropics. It is very starchy and the white powder made from the Rhizomes (Roots that travel just beneath the surface of the ground) is great for infants as a Baby Powder or can used as thickening agent for Soups and Stews.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: A Demulcent (relieving Inflammation or Irritation), and a Nutritive (contributing to Nutrition). 2 or 3 teaspoonfuls may be boiled in a pint of Water, Organic Goat's Milk or Herb Tea and seasoned to taste using Organic Raw Honey or Fruit Juice to help with gastric disorders.
Barberry: Found throughout the Northern Hemisphere, the Roots and Berries of this plant are well known for their healing properties.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Tonic (giving a feeling of well-being), a Purgative (a strong laxative), and a great antiseptic (killing off of disease causing micro-organisms). An awesome Herb for all Liver and Gall Bladder complaints. Handles Jaundice (the yellow tint of the skin), digestion problems, diarrhea, and is essential in Cleansing of the Liver, the Gallbladder and the Bowels. The powdered bark can be used in Teas, Tinctures, or in Capsules.
Bayberry: A very common Herb of the Northern Hemisphere. The part used for medicinal reasons is the Bark.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Bayberry is a powerful Stimulant (any substance that raises the physiological or nervous activity in the body. Something that increases activity, interest, or enthusiasm in one area or more including the entire Body), Astringent, and Tonic. One of the most awesome Herbs used in Healing. It is a great Cleanser, and the bark in powdered form can be used in Teas, Poultices, Tinctures, or in Capsules.
Blood Root: Found throughout the United States and Canada, the Rhizome of the Blood Root is the part used in Herbal Formulas. It has also been used as a natural dye by native American Indians for coloring various natural fabrics such as wool, cotton, and hemp.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: A Stimulant, Tonic, and Expectorant (increases the ability to Cough and get rid of Phlegm). Taken internally it is great for all diseases of the Lungs, Pneumonia, Chronic Bronchitis, Whooping Cough and Croup. It can be used to purge the Lungs when taken as a tea. Externally it has proven itself to be effective in handling Cancerous Tumors, Ringworm, and Skin Funguses. Can be prepared by the making of Tinctures, Poultices, Teas, and Capsules. Notice: Big doses are narcotic.
Burdock: A common plant growing throughout the Northern Hemisphere usually found in ditches and hedgerows. The Roots and the "flower heads" are the parts used.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: An Alterative (Herbs used to alter the cellular intake of nutrition and output of wastes and gradually bring into balance normal bodily functions. A substance which hastens the renewal of tissues so that they can better carry on their functions), Diuretic (increases the flow of Urine), and Diaphoretic (increases the outflow of sweat / perspiration). It is one of the best Blood Purifiers used in Herbal Healing. Both Root and Seeds from the Flower Head may be used in Teas or ground up as a powder to be mixed in Poultices, Capsules, or Tinctures.
Cascara Sagrada: Originally native to the west coast of North America, this wonderful herb (the bark of the tree) is now common to many other parts of the World. The bark should be stored for up to a year before it is used in a formula, as it needs to mellow and age.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Used as a Laxative, and as a Tonic. Cascara Sagrada is great for handling Piles, Constipation, Indigestion and all Digestive complaints. It is also very well known for exercising and strengthening the Bowel.
Castor Beans (also called the Castor Oil Plant): Originally found only in India, this plant can now be found in just about every tropical location in the World. Castor Beans are not true Beans. They are Seeds. The oil is pressed from these seeds leaving a toxic poison in the plant matter left behind.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: A very effective Cathartic=(providing mental relief by stimulating Emotions), a Purgative=(A Laxative effect that dramatically cleans out an Organ, Gland or the Mind), and a Anthelmintic=(A Vermifuge or killer of Worms and Parasites): Mild enough to be used on Children and Pregnant Women, this awesome Herbal Preparation, can be used internally in small quantities to handle mild cases of Constipation and Diarrhea. It also assists in the removal of internal Worms and other parasites. Externally, it helps with Ring Worm and other skin problems. When a small amount has been rubbed on the nipples, it has also been known to help nursing women stimulate their breasts to increase milk production. Applying it to the Scalp has been shown to increase Hair production while handling Dandruff.
The basic idea behind Castor Oil is that it stimulates and gets rid of "Congestion" anywhere in the body. As such, it is also used in Natural Cancer Treatments as Fomentations = a cloth soaked in Castor Oil is used to cover an area of the body and left on all night while a person is sleeping.
This has been shown as very effective when handling Liver, Pancreatic and Colon Cancers.
Cayenne: Originally grown in the Tropics, this awesome plant of many different shapes, colors and sizes, is now grown all over the World. This includes Green Houses throughout many areas of much colder climates. Traditionally the name "Cayenne" has been reserved for those peppers that are spicy hot such as, African Bird Peppers, and Habaneras, etc.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Stimulant, Tonic, Carminative=(Relieving Flatulence and Gas) and for Stimulating Blood Flow throughout the entire body. This may very well be the most valuable Herb in the World. The hottest of these Cayennes stimulate Natural Bodily Warmth and equalizes Circulation. It is an absolute "Must" for anyone with any kind of Heart, Brain, or Lung condition that needs to be handled, and is capable of bringing a person safely out of a full blown Heart Attack, Brain Stroke or a Blood Clot in the Lungs. Cayenne has been known to handle a Cold in under 24 hours, and it is used in its powder form to Stop Bleeding from open Wounds.
Many Herbal Formulas are enhanced when mixed with Cayenne, as it makes them far more effective. Cayenne gets the bio-chemical properties of these herbs absorbed much faster than when used by themselves.
Celery: A well-known Vegetable grown throughout the World, that is rich in Sodium and Fiber. The Celery Seeds however have healing properties that are greatly praised.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Carminative, Diuretic=(increases the flow of Urine), Tonic, and an Aphrodisiac=(stimulates sexual desire). Recommended for Rheumatism=(any disease marked by inflammation and pain in the joints, or muscles), and is also used to assist in cleaning out the Kidneys.
Chamomile: Now found throughout the Northern Hemisphere, the Flowers of this plant are primarily used in Medicinal Teas.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Stomachic=(promotes appetite and digestion), Antispasmodic=(that which is used to relieve unconscious or involuntary movement of muscles or other body parts), and a Tonic. A digestive aid that is also used as a remedy to help get people to relax and stay calm.
Cinnamon: Originally a native of Sri Lanka, this herb (the Bark from the tree) is now cultivated in many other Eastern Countries.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: An Aromatic=(A pleasant smell), Astringent=(causing shrinkage of bodily tissue), Stimulant, and a Carminative. Used as a Spice, the Bark of the Cinnamon Tree is ground to a fine powder and is used around the World to add a distinctive spicy flavor in many dishes. Medicinally, it helps with handling Nausea and Vomiting. It is generally combined with other Herbs especially those that assist in improving the Liver.
Cloves: Originally from the Maluku Islands (The Spice Islands of Indonesia), Cloves can now be found in many sub-tropical regions.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: A Stimulant, Aromatic and a Carminative. The Spice is used as a flavoring in cooking. It is also used in many Intestinal Formulas to help purify and cleanse the Bowels. The Clove Oil is used in Tooth and Gum Formulas to assist in the killing off of bacteria and to numb pain in the area.
Coffee: Cultivated in almost every tropical country, it is one of the most popular drinks in the World. There are a great many different varieties of Coffee, and a lot of methods for preparing it.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: A Stimulant, Anti-Narcotic=(helps to reduce the effect of Drugs), and an Anti-Emetic=(Helps to prevent vomiting). Over abused beyond all reason throughout the World, this Herb has been used to sober-up Drunks for centuries. It helps them to straighten up while reducing the chances of vomiting. But, it has some destructive characteristics that demand some serious attention. Taken to excess, the caffeine in Coffee will burn out one's Adrenal Glands, and cause the entire endocrine system (all of the glands) to go out of whack to one degree or another bringing about a complete imbalance throughout the body. It acts as a weight gain trigger.
It can throw out the sex glands and turn on Hot Flashes, and PMS in Women. It can turn on impotence in Men. On the other hand, however, medicinally it has a very valuable use when used in moderation. A very small amount of Coffee has been shown to be very beneficial in the re-growth of Nerve Cells and Brain Cells. It doesn't take much though to go beyond this benefit, and into the realm of destruction.
Anyone coming off of Coffee should quit for at least a month before using it again for Nerve Regeneration. Coffee can be quite addictive, and when one quits cold turkey, one can experience headaches and severe lower back pain. Best is to quit on a gradient over a few week's period.
Cohosh (Blue and Black): Originally native to the US and Canada, both of these plants from the same family were finally exported and introduced to the rest of the World around the beginning of the twentieth century. The part used is the rhizome (that part of the root traveling just above or just under the ground) and is very effective when used in Tinctures.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Astringent, Anti-Spasmodic, Diuretic, Vermifuge, Emmenagogue = (increasing menstrual flow), and Alterative=(Herbs used to alter the cellular intake of nutrition and output of wastes and gradually bring into balance normal bodily functions. A substance that hastens the renewal of tissues so that they can better carry on their functions). Highly recommended to help get a woman's period to start flowing normally.
These two herbs are usually used together and have a reputation for helping to keep women's hormones in balance. It is also useful in any herbal preparation for assisting in handling coughs of all kinds.
Comfrey: Grows by riversides and in any moist place throughout the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. This is one of Nature's greatest Herbs and Healers. It is so effective, that it is currently being suppressed by the FDA and the Giant Pharmaceutical Companies.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Demulcent=(Relieves inflammation and irritations), and Astringent=(Causing the contraction of body tissues, typically of the cells of the skin). Can be used in Teas or Tinctures (Herbal Extracts). The leaves can be placed by themselves or with other herbs into a pot of boiling water to make an all around effective drink, that assists to bring about rapid healing throughout the Body, including all Bone, Flesh and Cartilage. When Comfrey is placed into a mixture of pure grain Alcohol and Water, and then left to sit and steep for a couple of weeks, the tincture created is one of the most effective healers of just about any organ including the Lungs. Can and should also be used as a poultice (a moist mass of herbs placed directly on top of a wound), or a fomentation (a cloth soaked in a strong tea made from herbs), applied directly to all wounds.
Corn Silk: The Silky Strands growing out of the tops of many varieties of Corn found throughout the World.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: A Demulcent, and a Diuretic (increases the flow of urine). One of the best Herbal Remedies for any kind of Kidney, Bladder or Urinary difficulties. Cleanses the Kidneys and assists in dissolving and getting rid of Kidney Stones. Corn Silk is essential to handling every kind of urinary tract infection. Most commonly it is used in Teas along with other Herbs, but it can be used as a "stand alone" in a pinch. Can also be used in any Kidney / Bladder Tincture.
Damiana: Originally found in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and all of Mexico, it is now harvested in other sub-tropical areas including Africa and the Middle East. The parts used are the Leaves.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Diuretic, Tonic, and an Aphrodisiac=(increasing sexual desire). Used in some Tea formulas, but mostly in Tinctures or as a powder in capsules, Damiana has been used to increase sexual desire, and also help to balance hormonal difficulties in both Men and Women.
Dandelion: Widely found throughout the World and considered by many to be nothing more than a pesky plant, this wonderful herb has many uses, and has a tremendous reputation for handling all conditions of the Liver. All parts of the plant can and should be used. The leaves add a wonderful flavor to salads, and even the flower can be used to make Dandelion Wine. The root is the main part used when handling Liver conditions and the leaf is the main part used in a Kidney Tea Formula to help straighten out all Kidney problems.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Diuretic, Tonic and Aperient=(a preventative of constipation), this Herb is essential when attempting to heal the Liver and / or the Kidneys and is used for handling all Liver and Kidney disorders. It should be prepared in various Capsule, Tea and Tincture recipes, in poultices and fomentations.
Echinacea: There are various types of Echinacea that have evolved over the years in various parts of the World, but this wonderful plant was originally discovered in the Canadian and American Wild West (west of Ohio). The most common varieties used for medicinal purposes are the Angustifolia (thin petaled, purple flowers), and Purpurea (thick petaled, purple flowers more common now in Europe). Echinacea has the signature characteristic of turning the mouth numb and making one salivate.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Alterative=(Herbs used to alter the cellular intake of nutrition and output of wastes and gradually bring into balance normal bodily functions. Alteratives are any substance which hastens the renewal of tissues so that they can better carry on their functions), and an Antiseptic. The roots are primarily used in Tinctures or ground up and used in capsules. The leaves and flowers are used in making Echinacea Tea. This Herb is useful in handling every disease. Echinacea jump-starts the entire Immune System and is essential when addressing Fevers, Flus, Colds, and Plagues of all kinds. It is used in every natural protocol that handles AIDS, Typhoid, EBOLA, and all Auto-Immune Disorders.
Ephedra: Sometimes known as Ma Huang or Mormon Tea and currently illegal per the FDA, this herb originated in China. The parts used are the stems, which have proven effective in handling Asthma and Hay Fever. One of its misuses is in the area of weight loss as it also has the power to curb appetite.
WARNING: Do NOT take too much of this Herb as it can speed up the Heart.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: An Alkaloid=(any of a class of herbs that have a pronounced drug like effects on humans), and an Ephedrine=(a crystalline alkaloid drug that causes constriction of the blood vessels and widening of the bronchial passages). Ephedra is a wonderful Herb that has been greatly abused in recent years ever since it was discovered that it assisted in weight-loss. Instead of going to the CAUSE of the weight-gain, this herb has been dangerously used as a band-aid for the problem. The Herb is truly beneficial when used to handle breathing difficulties, or in the regeneration of Nerve Tissue and Brain Cells.
Eucalyptus: This tree originally found in Australia and Tasmania, can now be seen in California and many other subtropical climates around the World. It is famous for the Oils derived from the leaves.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: An Antiseptic, Antispasmodic, and a Stimulant, this Australian household remedy is used for many diseases and complaints. The Oil may be safely used both internally and externally, and when placed into a vaporizer is effective in handling Asthma, Colds, Sore Throats, and the Flu. The Oil may be applied freely around the body, and many reports have been documented for its assistance in relieving the pain from Arthritis, Joint and Muscle Stiffness and Bruises. The oil is also commonly used in Saunas and Steam Rooms worldwide.
Eyebright: Originally from England and Europe, this herb can now be found in gardens all throughout the Northern Hemisphere.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Astringent, and slightly Tonic. Primarily used in Tinctures for all problems of the Eye. Take one to five drops of the tincture made, and place into an eyecup. Fill the rest of the eyecup with distilled water and apply to the eyes. Has been shown to be very effective in helping to handle Pinkeye, Dry Eye, Itchy Eye, Eye Infections, Cataracts, Short Sightedness, Far Sightedness, Glaucoma, Floaters, and Astigmatism.
Important Note for the use of all Herbal Remedies: Good Health is Holistic. In other words, one must address each individual part in order to achieve excellent health for the whole body. One seldom fixes the Eyes or the Liver by addressing these alone. When one cleanses the Liver, one should also cleanse the Colon.
Fennel: First found in countries bordering the Mediterranean, it was later discovered growing wild in the British Isles and throughout Europe, and can now be found Worldwide. Has a similar taste to Anise and Liquorice and is used in Europe in salads.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Principally used as a Carminative=(Relieving Flatulence and Gas) and is used in many remedies for the stomach. Normally mixed with other herbs for its liquorice taste, to help ease pains and discomforts of stomach disorders. This wonderful herb can also help to increase the milk flow in lactating women. Fennel is commonly prepared in both teas and extracts.
Feverfew: Growing wild in many places in the Northern Hemisphere, this bitter tasting herb is excellent for getting rid of worms, promoting menses in woman, and calming people down. It contains a fairly large amount of Melatonin.
WARNING: PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD NOT TAKE FEVERFEW AS IT CAN CREATE NAUSEA, VOMITING AND DIARRHEA, AND THUS BRING ABOUT A MISCARRIAGE.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: An Aperient=(used to relieve constipation), this herb is prepared mostly in tinctures. It is used to reduce fevers, treat headaches and relieve arthritis conditions.
Foxglove: A very bitter tasting leaf that is a marvel when handling conditions of the heart as it contains Digitalis in its natural state.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Best used in a tincture, Foxglove is a great Heart Tonic. It helps to control the beat of the heart and to handle a speeded up, or irregular heartbeat. The pharmaceutical industry has fancy names such as digitoxin or digoxin, but these are still the extracts derived from the leaves of this wonderful plant. In small quantities, it can also be mixed with other herbs to help control epilepsy and other seizure disorders. Caution: An overdose of this herb can cause anorexia, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, and should NOT be used as a weight loss aid as some have tried to do in the past. This herb turns on major detox and as such has suffered the attacks of the pharmaceutical companies who have used this fact to scare people off.

Galls – Oak Galls: Oak Galls are created when the bark of the Oak tree is punctured by an insect to lay its eggs, after which the tree surrounds this "wound" with a large amount of tannins (plant tissue) creating that familiar "wart" or "knob" on the skin of the tree.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Astringent=(causing the shrinkage of bodily tissues to protect the skin and reduce bleeding). Oak Galls are probably the best astringent on the planet. Best used in tinctures, it has been well known to shrink gum pockets in the mouth and is famous for tightening up wounds in any tissue.
Garlic: This wonderful culinary herb is probably one of the best-kept secrets in the whole field of Healing. Sometimes known as Russian Penicillin this awesome herb is anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-parasitical. It just about does it all. If people were allowed only one "emergency" herb, that choice should be Cayenne. But for non-emergency situations, Garlic would be the absolute best choice for handling many, many conditions.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: When it comes to Colds, Flu, Viruses, Parasites, Inflammation, Warts, Fungi and Plagues, Garlic is Nature's Antibiotic. Garlic kills Urinary Tract Infections and inhibits Leukemia. It reduces Blood Sugar and is the best herb for regulating Blood Pressure. Four cloves of Garlic every day will eventually and permanently bring down a High Blood Pressure Condition. Garlic kills and expels worms. It increases insulin production. Garlic works great on Kidney Infections and dramatically lowers Cholesterol. It has been proven in numerous lab studies to destroy Cancer and break up tumors. Garlic has been used as a strength builder and has been highly respected throughout history in numerous cultures as a food used to increase Health and Energy. Watch them pop up in the spring and harvest when the tops start to turn brown. Hang them in bundles or braids in a dry place.
Next year plant the biggest cloves to keep improving the strain, and then eat the littler ones. Garlic can be used in all kinds of tinctures including those where one uses different pulling agents such as Alcohol and Apple Cider Vinegar.
Ginger: Another awesome Herb that has some of the characteristics of Cayenne, Ginger is another famous blood mover. It is a root / rhizome=(a horizontal root that is continuously putting out shoots) that is found in the tropics. Some of the very best Ginger is found in Hawaii and Jamaica.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Stimulant, Carminative, and Expectorant=(assists in coughing up phlegm from the lungs). Another great remedy for Inflammations, Colds, and Flus, it is great when mixed with Garlic in an all around Tonic. Its strong flavor also helps to disguise the taste of other, more pungent herbs. Ginger is essential when helping to remove Gallstones and stimulate Liver and Pancreatic Cleansing while assisting in the lowering of Cholesterol.
Ginger is one of the greatest herbs for handling Nausea from seasickness, morning sickness, and those who've undertaken Chemotherapy. It is also a major herb used in preparations to terminatedly handle Diabetes. Used in teas, it will help bring about a sweat to remove toxins through the skin especially when taken in a Sauna. It can be used in various tinctures made from either Alcohol or Apple Cider Vinegar.

Ginseng: There are various types of Ginseng, and the original Panax, or Red Ginseng has been used in China for thousands of years. However, many decades ago, a "white" Ginseng was discovered in the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains of the United States that is extremely potent. My son and I have found 40 year old roots in our woodland travels, and White American Ginseng is some of the best in the World.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Used as an Aphrodisiac, Tonic and a Stimulant, all forms of Ginseng can be useful in helping to handle Loss of Appetite, Stress, Impotence, and Diabetes. One can eat the root whole, or dried, and even the leaves have similar medicinal properties. The most potent form is when the roots are used in Tinctures, however it can also be used in Teas or taken internally in powdered form in capsules. It assists in getting rid of radiation from the body and is helpful when getting rid of all forms of Cancer. Ginseng is famous for enhancing mental clarity, energy levels, sex drive and helping to rejuvenate the sex organs. It is far safer and more effective than Viagra with all of its negative effects.

Goldenseal: At one time, this wonderful plant grew wild in most of North America, but it is now in danger of becoming extinct. Only cultivated plants are now readily available for herbal use. The effective part of the plant used is the Rhizome (a root growing just under the surface and horizontal to the ground), and is harvested in the Fall. The Wildcrafted = harvested in the wild, variety is still the best and the most potent kind but is getting extremely difficult to find. In order for it to make a comeback, it is strongly recommended that one pass it by on one's herb walks.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: A Tonic, Laxative, Antiseptic, and a Detergent (Cleanser). Great for handling mucus in all areas of the body, Goldenseal is essential in handling infections of all kinds. It has been known to assist in the handling of all Cancers, but especially Tumors in the Breast. Furthermore, it has also been known to effectively handle conditions in the Liver, Gallbladder, Stomach, and Uterus, and is famous for relieving Postpartum Hemorrhaging, and PMS Symptoms. Goldenseal is essential when handling Fevers and can be considered to be a Natural Antibiotic.
Gravel Root: Only the Rhizome is used in Herbal Preparations and it is very tough and hard. Best is to cut it immediately upon harvesting, or to purchase it already cut.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: A Diuretic that is second to none in helping to dissolve and get rid of Kidney Stones. It is primarily used in Tinctures though some Herbalists grind it to a powder and use it in making Gravel Root Capsules to help the Kidneys.
Hawthorne: A Hedge plant with bright red berries that are used in handling all conditions of the Heart.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: A Heart Tonic, where the bright red berries are used either dried or fresh to make Tinctures, Teas, and Syrups. Probably the best "Heart Food" you can take. This miraculous herb helps to handle ALL Heart Conditions including, Irregular Heart Beat, Speeded up Heart Beat and Weak Heart. Mixed with Cayenne and Cactus Grandiflora, you have a Tonic that is second to none, which will feed and strengthen the heart, and can almost raise the dead. When you think of any and all Heart Conditions, think of Hawthorne.
Horseradish: Found throughout the World, the root of this great food / herb is used in Tinctures, and as a Food Condiment.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Stimulant, Diaphoretic (makes you sweat), and a Diuretic. Horseradish is great for the digestive organs, and also for stimulating the Brain and clearing out the Sinuses. It is also used to treat Infections, Bronchitis, and Coughs. Rich in Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium and Phosphorus, Horseradish is also loaded full of Vitamin C.
Juniper: There are different varieties of Juniper, and the berries from all types have medicinal properties, though some are far more useful than others. The Alligator Juniper has a large berry, but it is very pithy, dry, and hard to work with. The most potent and easiest to use is the Juniper Monosperma (one seed), and this variety is excellent in both Teas and Tinctures.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Another great Diuretic Herb, Juniper Berries are essential when handling any kind of Kidney disorder or Kidney / Bladder infection. More Urinary Tract Infections have been cleaned up by Juniper Berries than any other herb.
They also help with Diabetes, Rheumatism and Arthritis. There is evidence that they also act as an appetite suppressant since they release insulin from the Pancreas. More research needs to be done in this area, but there is a good chance it assists in weight loss as well.
Liquorice or Licorice: The main part used of this plant is the root, and for many years it has been used in many cough medicines, and also been used as a taste enhancer to cover the smell and taste of stronger, more foul tasting herbs.
Preparation & Medicinal Use: Used by itself, this is a great herb for coughs or chest complaints. When mixed with other bitter or foul tasting herbs, Licorice covers the smell and taste of these very effectively. It is also great for helping to handle Liver Conditions, including Viral Hepatitis, Herpes Virus, H-Pylori Virus in the Stomach, Leaky Gut Syndrome, IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), and Crohn's Disease. When used with Slippery Elm Bark, you have an Herbal Healing Combo second to none. When it comes to re-growing and rejuvenating all different kinds of tissue, both externally and internally, Marshmallow and Slippery Elm are the pair to use. Plantain: A common weed found in all temperate areas of the World, Plantain is that flat looking green shoot you see growing between the cracks in sidewalks or along any path. Poke Root: Found in all areas of North America, this is one of the great Blood Cleansers and Anti-Cancer Herbs.
Preparation & Use: Anti-Cancer. Also used to handle Ringworm, and other Skin disorders such as Scabies caused by the Itch Mite. It is made into Tinctures, Teas and used in Poultices.
Poppy: Currently frowned upon in Society at this time due to the Giant Pharmaceuticals attempting a monopoly of all Drugs and Narcotics, this Herb IS the all time great PAIN KILLER. A hundred years ago, one could go to any Apothecary and purchase "Laudanum" that was nothing more than an Opium Tincture. It was very effective and was used by the common man of the times to handle any pain brought about by accidents or ill health. Some people abused this of course and it gave the Giant Pharmaceuticals the opportunity to raise Hell about it, so they could end up with a Medical Monopoly to HANDLE PAIN.
Nowadays, they make Opium Poppies into Morphine, Heroin, and Codeine and yet none of these is as effective as the original, Opium Tincture.

Used primarily in Tinctures and in Teas, it has a reputation for handling Hysteria, Anxiety, Depression, Migraines, and Convulsions, while also assisting in calming Epileptic Fits. Those who have problems sleeping will find Scullcap Tea to be a wonder.
Senna: Originally found in Southern Arabia, Senna is now cultivated in many Southern regions. The parts of the plant used are the Leaves and the Pods.
Preparation & Use: A Laxative with a strong "gripping" effect, Senna is essential for strengthening the Bowel. It has actually been known to re-grow tissue without even leaving any scars. One cannot speak too highly of this miraculous herb that belongs in every family's Emergency Kit.
Uva-Ursi: Found throughout the Northern Hemisphere, this evergreen shrub is great for Kidney Conditions.

Witch Hazel: Found in North America the bark of the Witch Hazel is used in many herbal formulas.
