If you use solar to do all the work then you would be better off making a freezer that would hold the cold for the night time as well. You are looking in the right places but the system will need to do double than just for the day time hours you get sun.
I am working on the same system but will use wood to fuel it year round.
The problem you may run into will be to adjust the tempature in your house so it will stay the same. Turning the unit on and off from the heat source will not work as it would take time to heat things back up once it cooled down, this would waste sun time during the day. The best idea I had was to dump the extra cold into a freezer with water in it and use the air over the ice to cool the house at night.
Look into the camper fridges and you can see how to make it bigger to make a freezer. There is no moving parts to it so the only power you need is on a fan to blow the air around. Even the fan can be solar powered.

If you build one have some one help you that knows how things go together. Some people will help out just to get to copy the sytem and try to make their money from it later. They can charge it, you will have to pay for the charging gases, but still you get a good deal and so do they.
Off the shelf parts will work if you size it right.
